Meeting China Manned Space Delegation

Date: 29/11/2023 (Wed)
Venue: Pui Kiu Middle School, North Point
Time: 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Thirty-one students from S3-S5 at LFC participated in the Meeting China Manned Space Delegation Programme organized by the Education Bureau. Commander Chen Dong of the Shenzhou-14 mission and several aerospace experts held a two-hour discussion with approximately 500 teachers and students from ten local secondary schools, sharing information about life in space, spacecraft structures, and astronaut training.

One of our S4 students, Yip TY, was among the few chosen to ask a question to the aerospace experts. As the team has conducted some research on exploring Mars, Yip TY wanted to know if Mars has any suitable features for human habitation. Commander Chen Dong found the question very intriguing and explained that Mars is located 100 times farther away from the current space station, and it would take two years to travel to and from Earth and Mars. Discovering the actual living conditions of Mars is still a long journey for humanity, and he encouraged future generations to strive to make the dream of traveling to Mars a reality.
